Making of Lab-Grown Diamonds

A Step-by-Step Process of How Futurex Diamonds Are Crafted

Growing the Rough Diamond

Our journey begins with the cultivation of a rough diamond. A diamond seed – a small slice of carbon – is placed in a specially controlled lab environment, mimicking the conditions found deep beneath the Earth's crust. This environment is rich in gases, pressure, and the right temperature to stimulate the growth of carbon atoms into a rough diamond through the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process. The result is a naturally grown, yet ethically sourced diamond that shines with all the beauty of a mined gem.

Scrutinizing and Selecting the Rough Diamond

Once the rough diamond is formed, it undergoes a rigorous inspection. Our team of diamond experts and physicists carefully scrutinizes every rough diamond for clarity, inclusions, and yield potential. Only the diamonds with the best clarity characteristics and minimal inclusions are handpicked to proceed to the next stage.

Scanning & Planning

The selected rough diamonds are passed through a 3D scanning process to evaluate their structure in great detail. Our planners then determine the optimal shape and size that can be cut from each rough diamond, ensuring maximum brilliance and minimal wastage.

Stone Marking

Once the planning is finalized, each diamond is carefully marked based on its internal characteristics and inclusions. This marking acts as a guide for the subsequent cutting process, indicating where the diamond will be precisely sliced and shaped. The marked diamonds are then forwarded to our Laser Sawing Department.

Laser Process

In the Laser Sawing Department, each marked rough diamond is securely set on a brass dopstick. The diamond cutter matches the grooves and characteristics of the diamond with high precision, then uses an advanced laser to slice the diamond into separate pieces based on the plan. This process allows for exact cuts, ensuring that the diamond retains its brilliance.

Plan Verification

After the initial sawing, the diamond pieces are rechecked in the Planning Department to ensure they align perfectly with the initial plan. Any necessary amendments are made at this stage, and the diamonds are prepared for final cutting.

Final Laser Process

The final shape of the diamond is achieved using advanced laser processing systems. Each diamond is cut with precision to achieve the ideal shape and cuts that enhance its brilliance and sparkle, bringing out the unique character of every piece.

HPHT Process for Color Improvement

After cutting, the diamonds are sent for the High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) process, which enhances the stone’s color and fluorescence. This treatment helps improve the diamond's natural hue, often removing any brown or yellow tint, leaving behind a pure and radiant gem.

Polishing the Diamond

Our skilled diamond cutters and polishers then polish each facet of the diamond to achieve optimal proportions, perfect symmetry, and a high level of brilliance. The process ensures that every diamond reflects light beautifully, maximizing its scintillation and shine.

Internal Grading

Once polished, our in-house diamond graders meticulously examine each diamond to assess and determine its quality based on cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. With trained eyes and advanced tools, we ensure that every diamond meets our high standards.

Boiling & Cleaning

The polished diamonds are then placed in a specialized chemical bath for up to 24 hours. This step removes any remaining impurities, dust particles, fingerprints, or residue, ensuring that every diamond is sparkling clean and ready for final inspection.

Certification & Authenticity

The final step is the certification process. Each diamond is sent to a globally recognized gemological institute, such as the International Gemological Institute (IGI), for grading and certification. This ensures that every Futurex Diamond is authenticated and assessed for its cut, color, clarity, and carat weight, guaranteeing you receive a diamond of certified excellence.
